We are looking for Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our established ward team in Portree Hospital. Portree Hospital is a community hospital situated in the North of Skye. It has an inpatient ward and Urgent Care Centre. The ward is led by GPs from Portree Medical Practice Monday Friday. Out of hours the ward is supported by Broadford Hospital in South Skye. A busy Urgent care centre operates from the hospital and nursing staff assist the Advanced Practitioners as required. The ward is mixed and provides rehabilitation, End of Life / palliative care, dementia care to patients from the local community. The Registered Nurse will demonstrate a variety of clinical skills for example enteral feeding via PEG, CPAP, End of Life care, dementia care. Our aim is for patients to reach their rehab potential. Nursing staff play an active role in discharge planning with the goal of the patient being able to return home if possible. Working in Portree Hospital offers staff a sense of job satisfaction. There is time to spend with patients having a chat and ensuring they are able to engage in meaningful activities. It also means that the Registered Nurse has to use their initiative and clinical judgement when the GPs or Advanced Practitioners are not on site. We work closely with our sister hospital in Broadford. There would be an opportunity to work across both sites. NHS Highland is committed to developing its staff.
