Specialist Pharmacist – Respiratory & Antimicrobials

Pay: Band 7 (£47,810 – £54,710 per annum)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. All MKUH roles may be considered for flexible working.
We are seeking a specialist pharmacist with a passion for respiratory medicine and prudent antimicrobial use to join our forward‑thinking pharmacy team at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH). This role offers an excellent opportunity to advance pharmaceutical care for respiratory patients and to contribute to the development of our antimicrobial stewardship programme.

Responsibilities
* Deliver ward‑based clinical pharmacy services within respiratory medicine.
* Support the antimicrobial stewardship agenda, including quality improvement, audit and medicines optimisation.
* Provide education and training to junior staff and other multidisciplinary team members.
* Advocate for medicines safety and optimisation at ward level and liaise with the Principal Pharmacist on medicines‑related issues.
* Contribute to dispensary duties, Saturday and bank‑holiday rota coverage, and on‑call services.
* Develop and implement training packages and support professional development within the Trust.
* Participate in the planning and future development of pharmacy services at MKUH.
Person Specification
Essential qualifications and knowledge
* B.Sc. / B.Pharm. / M.Pharm
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent)
* Evidence of ongoing CPD in line with GPhC requirements
Desirable qualifications and knowledge
* Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience (e.g. GLF)
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
* Good understanding of medicines‑management issues at the interfaces between primary, secondary and tertiary care
Experience – Essential
* Post‑registration experience in a hospital‑based clinical post
* Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide patient care
* Experience in clinical audit work
* Awareness of current national standards, guidelines and service delivery issues
* Experience with Medicines Information and knowledge of medical disease management across specialties
Experience – Desirable
* At least two years of post‑registration hospital experience
* Evidence of influencing medicines use to optimise care and manage expenditure
* Experience managing prioritisation for new or expanded drug use
* Significant contribution to innovative or developmental pharmacy roles
