We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join the team on a permanent basis. You will be providing key support to the Accountant and wider finance team in a busy dealership setting, contributing to the smooth running of core financial operations. THE ROLE In this varied and hands-on Assistant Accountant role, you will support the preparation of monthly accounts and oversee sales and purchase ledger monitoring, reconciliations, and month-end processes. Responsibilities include key manufacturer account postings and reconciliations, covering areas such as bonuses, self-billed invoices, and warranties, as well as managing the Fixed Asset Register and processing depreciation runs. You will also carry out intercompany account reconciliations and ensure accuracy across a variety of balance sheet accounts. Daily bank statement postings and month-end reconciliations will form a key part of your duties across three sites, alongside weekly and monthly funding reconciliations. You will work closely with department managers to ensure the prompt collection of outstanding payments and assist the team with day-to-day banking operations. REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will have previous experience as an Assistant Accountant within a busy, fast-paced finance department. You will thrive in a varied and demanding environment, with strong organisational skills, a meticulous eye for detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines. A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential. While experience in the motor trade and familiarity with Kerridge DMS would be advantageous, they are not essential. You must be IT proficient, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong administrative and time management skills, along with a team-oriented mindset, are key to success in this role.
