The Role:
The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Portsmouth is the largest criminology department in the UK, with a strong reputation in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral education, underpinned by a successful applied criminology research profile. As part of a strategically important Ministry of Justice contract, we are expanding our delivery of probation training and are now recruiting a bank of hourly paid Regional Assessors to support the Level 3 Probation Practitioner Apprenticeship.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a national programme that blends high-quality off-the-job training with robust assessment of learner competence. Regional Assessors will deliver face-to-face training within their preferred region and undertake assessment activities, helping apprentices demonstrate their capability across a range of probation roles. Please refer to the Job Description for further information.
We are recruiting across the following probation regions:
Wales, London, South West, South Central, Kent, Surrey and Sussex, East of England
Contract details:
* Fixed term for 2 years with opportunity for extension (zero-hour contract)
* £21.28 hourly rate of pay
* Travel undertaken as part of the role will be reimbursed
We also encourage applications from Welsh-speaking candidates for roles in the Wales region.
The interviews are currently anticipated to be held week commencing 06 October 2025.
