We are looking for an experienced mechanical fitter to join our team.
As a mechanical fitter at GRM, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining a wide range of utilities assets on-site and in our workshop. Experience in working with screens, valves of all types, heat exchangers, pumps, gearboxes, compactors, pipework, settlement tanks etc is beneficial for this position. You will need to be comfortable working in a team of 2-3 whilst on site and also competent working on your own when carrying out workshop activities.
At least 5 years Mechanical Fitting experience and a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or C&G equivalent) is essential to apply for this position. It would be advantageous for the candidate to be experienced working at heights and in confined spaces (medium risk confined space course and working safely at height course provided regardless). will demonstrate a strong focus on delivering high quality workmanship to agreed timescales, be fully aware of the importance of applying stringent Health and Safety principles within the workplace and awareness and experience with 'permit to work' and working to Risk Assessment & Method Statement. When carrying out site work and visits, you will be provided a company van for those jobs to travel to and from site, so a full UK driving licence is essential for this position.
The ideal candidate will also be confident and experienced in identifying faults on site visits along with liaising and scoping service requirements with customers. Experience of maintenance procedures, risk and COSHH assessments, Safe Systems of Work is extremely important. Ideal candidate will also show diligence and attention to detail when undertaking all tasks and will have well-developed team working and interpersonal skills.
8 hours per day, Mon-Fri.
20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
Standard pension contribution.
Rate of pay: £ £36000 depending on overtime
Overtime over 40 weekly hours - paid at 1.5x (time and a half)
Overtime on Sunday and Bank hols (when/if required) - Paid at 2x (double time)
Confined space, Working at height, EUSR water hygiene, Fire safety & safe use of extinguishers, IOSH working safely, First aid and Abrasive wheels courses provided for successful candidate.
