A leading national infrastructure group is seeking an experienced Head of Bid Management to oversee its energy division’s work‑winning function. This senior leadership role is part of a business delivering some of the UK’s most critical energy and decarbonisation projects, from high‑voltage substations and transmission lines to large‑scale renewable connections and EV infrastructure.
About the Role
You’ll lead a team of four bid professionals responsible for managing the end‑to‑end tendering process. Working closely with senior leadership, operations, and commercial teams, you’ll set standards for bid governance, communication, and performance across the group. The position requires strong knowledge of infrastructure procurement, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to shape compelling, commercially sound proposals that win work in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the bid management team, ensuring high standards across all submissions.
* Manage the full bid lifecycle, from opportunity identification to handover.
* Drive continuous improvement of processes, templates and bid content libraries.
* Oversee bid governance, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and client requirements.
* Communicate the live pipeline with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate resourcing.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with client procurement teams.
* Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance across the wider business on best practice.
About You
* Minimum five years’ experience in bid or proposals management, ideally within construction, utilities or infrastructure.
* Proven track record in leading teams and managing multiple concurrent bids.
* Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
* Exceptional communication, coordination and writing skills.
* Commercially astute with strong attention to detail.
* Confident user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Degree qualified preferred, but not essential.
* Able to travel as required for key meetings and client engagements.
