House Manager Butler - Central London (Hyde Park)
Full-Time when principal in residence | ASAP Start
Salary: £75,000-£85,000+ DOE
A confident and capable House Manager Butler is required for a substantial private residence in Central London, close to Hyde Park. The home is arranged over six floors with a roof garden and adjoining mews currently undergoing refurbishment.
This is a true 360-degree role combining hands on property management with polished front of house presence. This is not a traditional, silver-service butler position. Instead, we are seeking a highly competent, personable and solutions focused professional who can manage the property end to end while representing the Principal with warmth, confidence and emotional intelligence.
The Principal resides abroad for approximately six months of the year, so the successful candidate must be comfortable taking full ownership of the residence in their absence - ensuring everything runs smoothly, issues are resolved promptly and standards are consistently upheld.
Key Responsibilities
Front of House & Principal Support
* Confidently greet guests and represent the Principal in a professional yet natural manner
* Build strong working relationships with all stakeholders, including the housekeeper and the wider team
* Demonstrate excellent people skills: approachable, calm and collaborative
* Flexible approach when the Principal is not in residence, attending as required to ensure everything remains in order
Property & Operational Management
* Take full responsibility for the daily running of the residence
* Proactively follow up with contractors, knowing exactly who to contact for each issue
* Oversee maintenance and repairs, troubleshooting where possible and engaging specialists when required
* Ensure all works, particularly ongoing renovation projects, are closely monitored and delivered to agreed timelines and standards
* Liaise effectively with the property management company, suppliers and external consultants
* Oversee security, deliveries, organisation systems and general presentation
* See all tasks through from start to finish with no loose ends!
Renovation Oversight
* Act as on site point of contact during refurbishment works
* Monitor deadlines and ensure contractors adhere to agreed schedules
* Maintain oversight of finish quality and practical completion
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience managing high-value private residences
* Strong technical understanding of property systems and hands-on troubleshooting ability
* Highly organised, proactive and practical
* Emotionally intelligent with excellent interpersonal skills
* Solutions-driven with a "just get it done" mentality
* Comfortable managing projects independently and seeing them through end-to-end
* Discreet, trustworthy and adaptable
* Strong chemistry and ability to integrate seamlessly with the existing team
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable, modern House Manager Butler who thrives on ownership, takes pride in delivering results and understands the balance between operational excellence and personable front-of-house presence.
A competitive salary will be offered in line with experience and expertise.
