About the role
We are seeking to recruit skilled, dedicated, committed and accomplished Accredited Clinical Coders to join our established Clinical Coding Team at the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Trust (ESNEFT). Candidates should have clinical coding experience across all specialties in an acute setting and a desire to further their career.
Responsibilities
* Abstract and analyse complex clinical information from patient records and translate it into a coded format in line with national standards. Maintain a high level of knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
* Enter final coded data onto the appropriate computer systems to meet Trust requirements for statutory information and payment flows.
* Work as part of a team of experienced, trained and trainee staff; duties rotate between specialties.
* Respond to enquiries from all parts of the hospital, locate source documents and read histology, cytology and radiology reports.
* Analyse complex medical information from paper documents and other computer systems.
* Ensure that patient records are processed correctly and tracked to appropriate destinations using the computer tracking system.
* Act as a mentor and assist in the education of less experienced coders.
* Be aware of wider information and patient administration service systems.
* Ensure that computer and paper records are passed for remedial action or processed correctly.
