Role: OpenShift Engineer Engagement: 12 month Contract inside ir35 Location: 60% onsite in Yorkshire Overview We are seeking several highly skilled OpenShift Engineers to support the creation, testing, and manipulation of hosts within a complex OpenShift environment. These consultants will work on template management, platform lifecycle support, and migrations using MTV for OpenShift. A strong background in virtualization technologies is essential, along with the ability to build new platforms capable of hosting Windows, Linux, and other compute guests. This role requires hands-on engineering capability, strong automation experience (preferably Ansible ), and a solid understanding of modern infrastructure platforms. Key Responsibilities Host Creation & Manipulation: Build, configure, test, and manage hosts within OpenShift and virtualized environments. Template Management: Develop, maintain, and optimize host and VM templates to support consistent deployments. Lifecycle Support: Provide operational support across the platform lifecycleprovisioning, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning. Migration Work: Perform migrations using MTV (Migration Toolkit for Virtualization) to move workloads into OpenShift. Automation: Use Ansible to automate routine tasks, deployments, and configuration changes. Pipeline Development: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery and platform automation. Platform Engineering: Design and build new virtual platforms capable of hosting mixed workloads (Windows, Linux, guest OSs, compute guests). Patching & Maintenance: Execute platform patching, updates, and remediation activities as part of a secure operating model. Required Skills & experience Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift (infrastructure-level management). experience working with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Red Hat Virtualization, etc.). Practical experience with the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) for OpenShift migrations. Proficiency in Ansible for automation and configuration management. Knowledge of CI/CD tools and the ability to build/maintain pipelines. experience designing, building, or supporting multi-OS virtual platforms (Windows, Linux, compute guests). Strong understanding of host-level operationspatching, updates, lifecycle management. Preferred Qualifications Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, EX280, etc.). experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
