Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 3 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) to join our Outpatient Nursing Team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Stadium Road.
The job is full-time (37.5 hours per week), Mondays to Fridays, with no weekends or bank holidays.
The HCSW will work within the outpatient clinics to deliver care to patients coming from home or nursing care homes. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting a wide range of specialties including endocrine, urology, dermatology, neurology, dietetics, ENT and plastic teams.
The HCSW will assist patients with moving and handling, transferring to other departments and documenting observations in patients' records.
All applicants must have a care certificate from an NHS Trust. Experience with minor operating procedures - dermatology. Urology - flow rate, bladder scanning, urinalysis. Moving and handling - transferring patients in wheelchairs to x-ray, scans, transport, and providing care to patients on trolleys waiting to see doctors in OPD. Phlebotomy - venepuncture. Experience working in ears, nose and throat OPD. Chaperoning doctors. Work in the minor operation room - dermatology.
Responsibilities
* Assist patients with moving and handling and transferring to other departments; document observations in patient records.
* Support patients in outpatient clinics across multiple specialties (endocrine, urology, dermatology, neurology, dietetics, ENT, plastic surgery).
* Chaperone doctors as required and participate in minor procedures in the outpatient setting (dermatology).
* Assist with moving and handling during transfers to X-ray, scans, and other departments; support care for patients on trolleys awaiting doctor consultations.
* Perform phlebotomy (venepuncture) as required.
* Provide support in ENT OPD where applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
* Care Certificate from an NHS Trust.
* Experience with minor operating procedures in dermatology.
* Experience with urology tasks: flow rate, bladder scanning, urinalysis.
* Experience in moving and handling and in transferring patients (wheelchair to X-ray, scans, transport).
* Phlebotomy experience (venepuncture).
* Experience working in ENT OPD.
* Willingness to chaperone doctors.
