Lead Mobile Developer – iOS, Android & Cross-Platform Applications
Location: Leeds (Hybrid with UK travel)
Overview
Our client, a growing digital consultancy delivering innovative digital transformation programmes, is seeking a Lead Mobile Developer to drive the design and delivery of modern mobile applications for public and private sector organisations.
This role combines hands‑on engineering with technical leadership. The successful candidate will define mobile architecture, guide development teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high‑quality mobile applications that are scalable, secure, and aligned with modern mobile‑first strategies.
As a Lead Mobile Developer, you will play a key role in shaping mobile delivery practices while mentoring engineers and contributing to strategic client engagements.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of high‑quality mobile applications across client projects.
* Define and implement mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM and Clean Architecture.
* Select appropriate technologies, including native or cross‑platform frameworks, depending on project requirements.
* Mentor and guide mobile engineers through code reviews, technical leadership, and best practices.
* Collaborate with UX/UI designers and client stakeholders to translate user requirements into robust mobile solutions.
* Ensure applications meet best practices for mobile security, accessibility (WCAG), performance, and offline capability.
* Manage the full mobile development lifecycle including testing, release management, and store deployment.
* Support pre‑sales and business development activities by contributing technical input to proposals and discovery sessions.
* Represent technical mobile expertise in client workshops and strategic discussions.
Requirements
* Extensive experience as a Senior or Lead Mobile Engineer, delivering complex consumer‑facing mobile applications.
* Swift (iOS)
* Experience building applications using cross‑platform frameworks, particularly Flutter (Dart).
* Familiarity with state management approaches such as Bloc, Provider, or Riverpod.
* Strong knowledge of modern mobile architecture patterns, including modularisation and scalable mobile codebases.
* Experience designing and managing mobile CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Bitrise, Fastlane, or GitHub Actions.
* Experience integrating mobile apps with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Firebase services, and backend platforms.
* Knowledge of local data persistence technologies such as Room, CoreData, or SQLite.
* Experience managing the mobile release lifecycle, including automated testing (unit, UI, and integration testing) and beta distribution tools such as TestFlight or App Center.
