The Role:
Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) is seeking a proactive and dependable Estates Operative to join our Estates team on a fixed-term basis. This role involves maintaining the safety, security, and functionality of our College premises and supporting staff, students, and visitors.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
As part of the Estates team, your duties will include:
* Opening, locking, and setting alarm systems in College buildings. You will be a registered key-holder and may respond to call-outs on a rota system.
* Conducting patrols to ensure safety, performing minor repairs, and reporting defects.
* Maintaining building systems such as heating, alarms, emergency lighting, and security systems, and clearing drains and unblocking sinks, urinals, and WCs.
* Assisting with room re-arrangements, moving furniture and equipment, and disposing of unwanted items.
* Acting as Fire Warden, performing safety checks, and supporting health, safety, and security procedures.
* Clearing external pathways, especially during adverse weather.
* Driving the College van, assisting with 'cash in transit', enforcing traffic regulations, and providing reception cover as needed.
