Graduate/Trainee Occupational Hygienist \n Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne\n Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 DOE\n\nAre you a recent graduate or early-career professional with a keen interest in environmental science and workplace air quality? A unique opportunity has opened up with a respected, employee-owned consultancy based in Oxfordshire, specialising in air quality and occupational hygiene.\n\nWe’re recruiting on behalf of a niche environmental firm known for its hands-on approach, close-knit team culture, and impressive project portfolio across the UK. This is an excellent entry-level role for someone looking to develop a career in occupational hygiene and indoor air quality consultancy.\n\nThe Role:\n\nYou'll begin by supporting field-based assessments across varied industrial and commercial sites—measuring dust, fibres, gases, and VOC exposure—before translating findings into technical reports back at the office.
Over time, you'll gain exposure to more complex consultancy work, client interaction, and potentially even business ownership through the firm’s profit-sharing structure.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nConducting site-based occupational exposure monitoring (dust, fibre, VOCs, gases, etc.)\nSupporting indoor air quality assessments\nCompiling detailed, interpretive reports\nLiaising with clients and project stakeholders\nAssisting with equipment installations and servicing where neededIdeal Candidate:\n\nA-levels or higher in a relevant subject (ideally Environmental Science or similar)\nUp to 2 years of experience in air or noise monitoring\nCompleted BOHS modules (preferred but not essential)\nStrong attention to detail and communication skills\nComfortable working independently on-site and as part of a collaborative team\nHolds a full UK driving licence and has the right to work in the UKWhat’s on Offer:\n\nFull training and career development support\nPrivate medical and dental cover\nPaid professional memberships\nEqual profit-sharing across all staff, regardless of position\nA welcoming and inclusive team cultureThis role is based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and requires regular travel to client sites across the UK.
