The lead for the Environmental element oversees all section activities, including direct personnel supervision and the comprehensive management of the environmental budget. This role serves as the primary liaison for the element, representing its interests across various installation organizations while coordinating critical base environmental matters with higher headquarters, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to ensure mission alignment and regulatory compliance. Qualifications and Key skills • A degree in an appropriate scientific field, or in community planning (Example: urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture), plus one year of specialized experience demonstrating the required key skills listed below or • HND/City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 5/6 in an appropriate scientific field. Progressively more years of specialized experience (as outlined in the key skills) are required for qualifications below degree level. • Knowledge of professional engineering/scientific principles, practices, techniques, regulations, and procedures to effectively perform supervisory functions associated with environmental compliance and restoration project development, execution, training, and advisory services. • Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; common business and economic principles, theories, concepts, and procedures; financial management principles and standards; and of the Department of Defense planning, programming and budgeting system. • Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. • Skill in evaluating state-of-the-art scientific and engineering technologies and incorporating into environmental compliance and restoration. • Ability to analyze, plan, organize, and direct the work operations to meet program requirements and objectives with available resources; and to mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with senior officials from a broad array of activities, including federal and local government, and industry. A valid UK driver's license (Category B) is also required for the position. This position may also be coded as mission essential. • You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. • You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. • Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies.
