The role
Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year Requirements: We are looking for an established software developer with advanced C++ expertise and a proven track record of delivering high-quality, production-ready code for Windows services and applications. We need someone with demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and upskilling developers through hands-on collaboration, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. We require experience identifying, prioritising, and refactoring code to improve modularity, testability, and maintainability. We are seeking someone who can contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy in support of our broader product vision. We expect strong ability to lead and negotiate effectively across teams and stakeholders, with sound decision-making and influencing skills. We value a self-motivated problem-solver with accuracy, keen attention to detail, and a clear, confident communication style. We require someone who can manage confidential information sensitively and work effectively in an agile software development environment. Desirable experience includes C#, Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure. Desirable experience also includes cloud enablement work supporting cloud migration and scalable, cloud-native architectures. Desirable experience includes leading software development teams across multi-month projects. Responsibilities: We refine new feature requests with stakeholders to make them development ready. We collaborate on system design. We deliver high-quality software. We mentor team members and coach them on best practice and improvements. We review pull requests. We plan and action refactoring efforts to support the wider product strategy. We develop new features according to specification. We triage and fix defects. We work closely with our Product and Testing teams on planned and reactive tasks. We escalate potential issues to our Line Manager when required. We contribute to the ongoing evolution of our role, supporting our modernisation strategy in AWS as we build experience.
