Job Description
What your new role will entail; Our thriving, multidisciplinary Water Engineering team in the South West & Wales region are looking for a motivated and team-oriented Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team within our Exeter, Bristol, or Cardiff offices. The team is delivering an exciting portfolio of water programs and projects through long-term frameworks with key clients including major UK water companies (Wessex Water, Welsh Water, South West Water locally), contractors, and international projects. This role represents a great opportunity to develop your career as a technical expert delivering solutions on a diverse range of projects that meet the technical challenges of today and tomorrow.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
1. Structural Design: Undertake the design and review of structural elements on wastewater and water infrastructure/treatment projects, such as water-retaining structures and other water-related assets, from concept through construction.
2. Collaborate: With Client and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholder buy-in to solutions, and also contribute to AECOM's wider technical capability and innovative approach.
3. Quality Focused: Produce and review deliverables, including calculations, drawings, and technical reports to relevant standards and procedures.
4. Delivery Focused: Take responsibility for delivering to the agreed budget, program, and quality along with supporting the preparation of project budget & program.
5. Explore and Harness: Seek opportunities to innovate and trial new methods by being inquisitive and forward-thinking.
6. Mentor: Delegate tasks, direct and oversee the work of others and act as a technical mentor to more junior staff.
Being part of the team; Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to deliver a variety of interesting small, medium, and large-scale projects from concept through construction. Qualifications
Here’s what we will need from you;
1. Qualifications: BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
2. Professional Membership: Have a membership/working towards membership of a relevant professional institution (ICE or IStructE).
3. Technical Competence: Possess a range of structural analysis and design experience, particularly in relation to reinforced concrete and steelwork structures.
4. Relevant Experience: Ideally possess wastewater and water infrastructure/treatment project experience, from concept through construction, although this not essential and development support, training and mentoring can be offered to the right candidate.
5. Communication: Ability to coordinate, liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders to help achieve a ‘right first time’ approach.
6. Digital Capability: Experience working in a digital delivery environment using BIM and 3D design tools.
