What is a Program Manager- Business Continuity?

Under general supervision, the Program Manager- Business Continuity, assists in the development, maintenance, and implementation of all components of the Business Continuity Program (BCP) in adherence with industry standards and Central Hudson’s emergency response plans. The Program Manager may also assist with updating Gas, Electric and Hydro emergency response plans.

What does a Program Manager-Business Continuity do?

8. Serves as the Central Hudson Business Continuity Plan Subject Matter Expert

9. Assists in the development, maintenance, and updates of comprehensive business continuity plans tailored to utility-specific risks, such as extreme weather, pandemics, and other man made or natural disasters

10. Assists in the development, maintenance and updates of the Crisis Management Plan

11. Collaborates with various stakeholders (IT, Security, HR, etc.) to ensure Business Continuity Plans information are current and accurate

12. Performs annual audits of each stakeholder’s Business Continuity Plan

13. Assists in the identification of gaps and vulnerabilities in planning capabilities

14. Conducts annual exercises of appropriate Business Continuity Plans

15. Conducts development workshops for stakeholders

16. Provides critical feedback to stakeholders on the need for preparedness and risk mitigation

17. Participates in industry workshops and forums to maintain industry standards and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

18. Assists in various projects being performed in the Emergency Management Division.

19. As a member of the Emergency Response team, accepts roles as required during gas and/or electric emergency preparation and response. The Program Manager – Business Continuity must be available outside of normal working hours to support the emergency response needs.

What does it take to be a Program Manager-Business Continuity?

Required:

21. Bachelors degree in Business, Risk Management, Emergency Management or related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Emergency Management or related field and a minimum of 3 years of work experience in developing Business Continuity Plans, Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP), or Emergency Response Plans. In lieu of an associates degree, a high school diploma and 5 years of work experience in developing Business Continuity Plans, Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP), or Emergency Response Plans

22. Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with both internal and external stakeholders

23. Ability to work collaboratively with business leaders across all disciplines of the company

24. Strong attention to detail

25. Strong computer skills, including a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office

26. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

27. Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

28. Five years of experience developing Business Continuity Plans, Continuity of Operations Plans or other Emergency Response Plans

29. Gas and/or electric utility operation knowledge

30. Familiarity with ISO 22301 “Security and Resilience – Business Continuity Management Systems”
