Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cardiac Physiologist based at University Hospital Ayr.

What you will do:

An opportunity has arisen within Clinical Physiology for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within this progressive multidisciplinary department. The role provides Cardiology and Respiratory services.

This is an exciting one-year training opportunity as a Specialist Clinical Physiologist (Annex 21).This post is offered under Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change terms and conditions. During this year, you will undertake a structured training program, working towards achieving the full competency framework for a Band 6 Specialist Clinical Physiologist. This will include leading ETT’s, analysis of ambulatory monitoring reporting on and highlighting complex cardiac arrhythmias this includes input to the Physiologist led Arrhythmia Pathway Service, also being skilled and independent within diagnostic cardiac angiography and pulmonary function testing. You will be supported by our experienced team and receive regular supervision and CPD opportunities. You will be paid a percentage 75% of the full Band 6 salary during this training year. Upon successful completion of the training, you will be able to independently undertake the full range of duties outlined in the job description for a Band 6 Specialist Clinical Physiologist.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Candidates should have experience in a wide range of invasive and non-invasive cardiology investigations, including diagnostic cardiac catheterisation. The candidate would be required to have excellent communication skills and have supervisory skills in order to appropriately manage junior staff. Post holder would be required to work closely with cardiology and specialist nurse colleagues. Post holder would be required to work at both Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals.

Candidates should have :

* BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent
* ILS
* Candidates should consider being registered with AHCS

Hours:

37 hours per week, post holder would be required to work at both Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals.

A car licence is preferable for this role.
