We are looking for a Grounds person with the vision to maximise the best use of our existing grounds and gardens. You will be responsible for their upkeep and maintenance, ensuring that they are attractive and safe. This role will involve working with students encouraging them to make the best use of their environment. By carrying out these responsibilities well, you will be helping to provide the best possible quality of care for the young people who live with us. You will also be helping to create a safe and pleasant working environment for the other people who work here.
Responsibilities
* Planting and maintaining trees, grass, shrubs, plants and flowers
* Cleaning and maintaining the appearance of outdoor furniture and features
* Ensuring the grounds are clean and all walkways are clear of rubbish/debris
* Operating and maintaining garden tools, including power tools such as mowers, pressure washers and leaf blowers
* Weatherproof outdoor areas where necessary
* Apply mulch, pesticides and any other necessary treatments to maintain green areas
* Emptying bins on a daily basis
Desirable knowledge and skills
* Physical strength and stamina
* Ability to manage own workload
* Understanding of grounds maintenance
* Knowledge of various gardening techniques and understanding of necessary products, such as pesticides
* Ability to safety operate (and maintain) gardening equipment and power tools
* Organisational and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team
