Location: Charlton, London SE7

Hours:

1. Waking Nights: a minimum of 26 hours (more hours available)
2. Sleeping Nights: a minimum of 26 hours (more hours available)
3. Afternoon/Day Shifts: 13.5 hours

Shifts: Part-time and full-time hours available.

4. Waking Nights - Nurses: Monday to Sunday, 19:45–09:00 (waking night shifts require nurses to be awake all night)
5. Sleeping Nights –Support Worker: Monday to Sunday, 19:45–09:00 (waking night shifts require nurses to be awake all night)
6. After school Shifts - Nurse/Support Worker: Monday to Friday, 15:30–20:00 (longer hours available during school holidays)
7. Weekends: Nurse/Support Worker 08:45–20:00

Pay:

8. Support Workers: £17.14–£19.28/hour depending on shift (sleeping nights paid at £NLW p/h)
9. Registered Nurses (Band 6 or experienced Band 5): £24.00 - £25/hour depending on experience and shift type

Driver Required? Desirable

Driving Client’s WAV? Desirable – automatic wheelchair-adapted vehicle
Using Own Vehicle for Work Purposes? Desirable – beneficial for attending training

Accommodation (While on Duty): Family home with adaptations.

Elijah, born in, lives at home with his mother and sees his father and grandmother at weekends. He enjoys watching TV, listening to music, and spending time with family.

Elijah has Cerebral Palsy affecting all four limbs and communication difficulties. He requires close monitoring of his epilepsy. He has a gastrostomy and requires suctioning at times to manage his secretions. Due to his complexity, he requires observation monitoring. He is dependent on carers for all of his care needs, transfers, and mobility, and uses a wheelchair. All transfers require hoisting with assistance from two carers.

You will be joining a care team within a family home, taking direction from Elijah’s mother, the Case Manager, and the Team Leader to ensure Elijah receives the care he needs.

Support Worker Role

Support Workers will provide hands-on care and assistance with Elijah’s daily routines and personal care needs. This includes:

10. PEG feeding and suctioning
11. Monitoring and recording health status and observations
12. Administering medication (including emergency medications)
13. Supporting mobility via hoisting
14. Assisting with therapies and promoting engagement in activities

This role suits someone with a clinical care background, ideally with experience working in a family home and supporting children with complex needs. The ideal candidate will be calm, proactive, and enthusiastic, able to promote Elijah’s learning, care, and independence in both the home and community.

Registered Nurse Role

We are also recruiting Registered Nurses (Band 6 or experienced Band 5) to join Elijah’s care team. This role is ideal for nurses with paediatric experience or a background in complex care. Nurses will:

15. Provide clinical oversight and escalation where needed
16. Monitor health status and interpret clinical observations
17. Administer medications, including emergency interventions
18. Support the implementation and review of care plans
19. Liaise with the Case Manager and Team Leader on clinical matters
20. Contribute to training and mentoring of support staff

Pay and Benefits:

21. £17.14–£19.28/hour for Support Workers
22. £24.00–£25.00/hour for Registered Nurses
23. Sleeping nights paid at £NLW p/h
24. 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
25. Pension (subject to qualifying status)
26. Free DBS check
27. On-going training and support

Training and Support:

To promote continuity of high care standards, you will be offered:

30. Regular clinical supervision/review meetings
31. On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR and compliance team
