About the Pharmacy Technical Services Unit
The Pharmacy Technical Services Unit comprises the Aseptic Unit, Pre-pack unit, Radiopharmacy and Cytotoxic unit. The post holder will provide support services to the Pharmacy Technical Services department, including the ordering, receipt, storage and supply of Pharmaceuticals and other stocks, the manufacture of aseptic products in both the aseptic and cytotoxic units, supervised by the senior technician in charge.
Responsibilities
* Assist with support duties essential to the smooth functioning of the unit.
* Provide support services to the Pharmacy Technical Services department, including the ordering, receipt, storage and supply of Pharmaceuticals and other stocks, the manufacture of aseptic products in both the aseptic and cytotoxic unit.
* Assist senior staff with support duties essential to the smooth functioning on the unit.
* Cross site working; early and late finishes; Saturday and bank holiday rota.
* Support Pharmacists and Technicians in providing a high quality pharmaceutical services within the Aseptic production unit, Radiopharmacy and Pre-pack unit to meet the needs of the Trust and external customer requirements whilst following set departmental standard operating procedures.
* Maintain operator validation.
* Compound all aseptic medicines to both the Trust and external customers including Cytotoxics, clinical trials, PCA’s, OPAT, and other aseptically prepared products.
* Perform dose calculations for chemotherapy drugs and radiopharmaceuticals.
* Pack, label and inspect over-labeled/repacked items; prioritise and allocate work for the Chemotherapy, general aseptic, radiopharmaceuticals.
* Communicate with service users to ensure timely supply of prepared products.
