About The Team
The Asset Integrity - Built Environment Group is looking for Civil/Structural Consultants to join our respected and thriving specialist team. We’re looking for motivated individuals at a range of experience levels who are driven to make a difference in highly regulated, safety-critical industries. We offer a unique opportunity to work across industries and sectors on some of the UK’s most complex infrastructure programmes. If you're technically capable, curious, and motivated by challenging projects, we would welcome your application.
The Built Environment group operates to assure the safety of structures and assets, including those subject to extreme hazards. Our integrated team establishes load conditions, structural responses, design solutions, testing programmes, substantiations and assurance against hazards (e.g. seismic, fire, blast, impact). We work collaboratively and supportively and seek continuous improvement.
We operate within the wider Asset Integrity area, which supports understanding the life, degradation, integrity and performance of materials, components, systems and assets from concept design to decommissioning.
If you enjoy working across engineering disciplines to solve complex problems, you would be a great fit.
What You’ll Do
You’ll become part of a highly respected team, working on a wide range of projects and markets, including:
* Nuclear energy (new build, operational fleet and decommissioning)
* Nuclear defence (infrastructure design, substantiation and assurance)
* Renewables (onshore solar, offshore wind)
* Process industries (chemical, hydrogen production)
* Transport (rail, marine)
Your role will vary by skills and experience, but typically includes leading project delivery and providing technical oversight, including:
* Structural verification and code assessments (e.g., Eurocode, ASCE, AISC) using software and hand calculations
* Hazard assessment (seismic, blast, fire performance modelling) and validation studies
* Concept design and feasibility analysis
* Civil/mechanical/electrical interface definition and integration
* Beyond-code assessments and safety case development
* Groundworks and geotechnical assessment
* Decommissioning and enabling works support
* Structural inspections and regulatory compliance
* Lifecycle extension studies, including degradation mechanism analysis
We’re looking for engineers who want to go beyond technical analysis and who can deliver end-to-end consultancy:
* Lead and shape projects, from scoping to delivery
* Engage directly with clients to define project needs and opportunities, and develop long-term relationships
* Contribute to the direction and development of the team’s capability, including mentoring junior engineers
* Lead development of capability relative to your specialism and own the development of opportunities and workstreams
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants with a broad range of experience levels. As a minimum, you should have:
* Chartership or higher with a professional institution such as ICE or IStructE or a related discipline
* Experience on technically challenging, safety-critical infrastructure projects
* Experience with client-facing consultancy work and a network aligned to your specialism
* A collaborative growth mindset and willingness to work across disciplines and mentor junior team members
* Beneficial additional technical experience may include:
* Code-based assessment (e.g., Eurocode, ASCE, AISC)
* Use of structural tools (STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, Robot)
* Seismic or dynamic structural analysis
* Hazard analysis and requirements capture
* Safety case documentation authoring or approval
* Geotechnical design or site assessments
* Inspections and CDM compliance
* Experience working with NEC/RIBA contracts and related documentation
* On-site inspections and surveys
Due to the nature of Frazer-Nash Consultancy’s work, candidates may be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy UK National Security Vetting criteria.
