Overview
The primary role of the research nurse, within the Research Team at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is to support a portfolio of mental health and dementia clinical trials. You will be responsible for assessing and monitoring research participants, liaising with study partners, recruitment of trial participants, collecting and processing biological samples and participant data as per the trial protocol. It is essential that the post holder has experience in clinical skills such as phlebotomy, cannulation and medication administration (Oral, Subcutaneous, Intramuscular and Intravenous). The post holder will be predominantly based at Two Bridges in Chertsey but will be expected to conduct study visits in the community and attend events and meetings across the Trust.

Responsibilities
* Clinical: Collecting laboratory samples (such as blood and urine); processing laboratory samples (training will be provided if required).
* Assessing and monitoring research participants including vital signs, ECGs and recording adverse events.
* Ensure the safe administration of clinical trial medication via various routes of administration (including oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous).
* Conduct study visits at Two Bridges, at other healthcare facilities in the Trust and in the community.
* Work autonomously and assist in the management of a caseload of clinical trial participants whilst contributing as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Research: Identify and screen potential research participants; ensure participants are fully informed prior to entry into clinical trials.
* Ensure that study visits and activities are conducted according to the study protocol and that data is accurately collected and recorded in CRFs and stored in databases.
* Record and report adverse events, informing the study coordinator/Principal Investigator and relevant local and regulatory authorities as per the protocol.
* Adhere to ICH-GCP, research governance standards and UK Clinical Trial Regulations.
* Support the setup and management of a portfolio of trials; maintain effective communication with participants and study partners.
* Collaborate with clinical teams to promote research and encourage referral of service users within the Trust to research within SABP.
* Establish and maintain good channels of communication with other departments, hospitals and Trusts, sponsors, and maintain good working relationships within the research team.
Be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical and research skills and professional awareness.
