Financial Controller

Location: London (Hybrid - 2 days per week in office)

As the business continues to scale, they are strengthening their central finance team with the addition of a technically strong and commercially minded Financial Controller .

Role Overview

This is a broad and high-impact role covering all aspects of financial accounting, management reporting, consolidation, audit, and financial controls for the UK parent company and selected subsidiaries.
You will be responsible for producing accurate and timely financial information, improving financial processes, and supporting senior leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis.
The organisation operates in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment, so strong technical accounting skills and experience with consolidations are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Reporting

Oversee day-to-day financial operations including AP/AR.

Produce month-end management accounts with insightful commentary.

Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of VAT filings.

Support payroll, pensions, and other employee-related financial processes.

Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Monitor cash flow and liquidity across multiple entities.

Contribute to cash flow optimisation and working capital improvements.

Financial Accounting & Audit

Advise on accounting standards and implement best-practice reporting across the group.

Draft technical accounting memos (e.g., for acquisitions or disposals).

Prepare consolidated financial statements and support subsidiary statutory accounts.

Lead and project-manage the annual audit, ensuring timely completion.

Implement control improvements and system/process enhancements.

Financial Strategy & Risk

Work closely with senior finance and business leaders to align financial and strategic goals.

Provide recommendations to improve profitability and financial performance.

Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.

Identify and manage financial risks and introduce mitigation strategies.

Other Responsibilities

Support group finance during busy periods or leave cover.

Drive automation and system efficiencies.

Assist in budgeting and forecasting.

Skills & Experience Required

ACA-qualified accountant (required) - the client is only considering ACA candidates .

2-5 years post-qualification experience.

Strong technical accounting skills, including multi-currency consolidation.

Excellent Excel skills.

Proven experience improving processes and internal controls.

Experience in PE-backed or leveraged environments advantageous but not essential.

Knowledge of US or Canadian structures beneficial.
