Health Care Assistant – General & Specialist Medicine
We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants who are willing to get stuck in and hit the ground running. The successful candidate will work in a well‑established stroke team, supporting patients with stroke care and working under pressure. A "can‑do" attitude and flexibility to embrace change is essential.
Key Duties
* Support patients requiring stroke care, ensuring safe and seamless journeys home.
* Work independently and as part of a multi‑skill team, balancing day and night shifts (more night work).
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives/carers and colleagues to plan care.
* Assist in clinical and non‑clinical activities to maintain high standards of care.
Qualifications and Experience
* NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship – or equivalent experience.
* Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D‑G).
* Care Certificate.
Essential Skills & Abilities
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Basic IT skills.
* Good organisational and time‑management skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team, and self‑motivated.
Desirable
* Interest or prior experience supporting health‑care staff and learners.
* Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
Employment Details
Band: Band 3
Salary: £24,937 – £26,598 a year, pro‑rata
Contract: Permanent
Working pattern: Full‑time, part‑time
