The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically grounded M and E Manager to take ownership of all Mechanical and Electrical services across a dedicated contract or portfolio. This is a crucial leadership role that requires you to combine your engineering expertise with commercial and managerial oversight. You will be responsible for driving performance, managing compliance, and ensuring asset reliability.
Location: Central London. Salary: GBP60,000. Contract: Monday‑Friday 8am‑5pm + on call (1 in 6 weeks).
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the subject matter expert for all M&E systems, including HVAC, BMS, LV/HV distribution, and critical plant, providing advanced fault diagnosis and technical guidance to the engineering team.
* Direct, manage, and supervise the day‑to‑day work of the in‑house engineering team and specialist subcontractors, ensuring all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks are completed on time and to contract specification.
* Taken full responsibility for statutory and regulatory compliance across the M&E portfolio, ensuring safe systems of work (RAMS, SSoW) are strictly adhered to.
* Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), assist the Contract Manager with budget control, manage Work in Progress (WIP), and source/approve quotations for remedial and project works.
* Oversee the integrity of the asset register, contribute to lifecycle planning, and advise the client on strategic replacements and energy efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications
* Must hold a minimum Level 3 technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, City and Guilds) in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Building Services.
* Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within the facilities management or maintenance sector.
* Comprehensive understanding of current UK health and safety regulations, including HTMs (where applicable) and statutory compliance relating to building services.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and client‑facing skills.
* Proficiency in using CAFM systems and maintenance management software.
