A well-established technology organisation is seeking a Technical Team Manager to lead a team of 11 engineers across support, infrastructure, and networking disciplines. This is a management-focused role, ideal for someone with strong leadership experience and a solid understanding of IT infrastructure and networks.
About the Role
As Technical Team Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations, manage team performance, and act as a key liaison between technical staff, customers, and senior leadership. While hands-on technical work is not required, a strong working knowledge of infrastructure and networking technologies is essential to effectively guide and support your team.
You will also contribute to performance reporting, workflow management, and collaborate closely with software support and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a team of support and infrastructure engineers, ensuring high performance and service delivery.
* Oversee workflow assignment, absence management, and team development.
* Produce and present performance reports to senior leadership.
* Collaborate with software delivery teams on deployment-related activities.
* Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
* Maintain documentation and tracking systems for team performance and operations.
* Communicate effectively with customers, leadership, and technical staff.
Required Experience
* Proven experience managing technical teams (5+ members), including performance and workflow oversight.
* Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, particularly Microsoft/Windows technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, VMware).
* Familiarity with networking concepts and devices (Cisco, Juniper).
* Experience generating and presenting performance reports.
* Comfortable working closely with software support and delivery teams.
* Highly organised with strong documentation and communication skills.
* People-oriented and confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
* ITIL certification (or willingness to obtain).
* Experience with Linux environments.
* Prior involvement in recruitment and team development.
* Exposure to IT managed services or similar environments.
