The Role
We’re looking for a Maintenance Plant Fitter (Mechanical) to join our Engineering team at Halecombe Quarry and Asphalt Plant.
Reporting to the Section Manager, you’ll play a key role in keeping our production assets safe, reliable and efficient across both quarry and asphalt operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Responding to mechanical breakdowns and restoring plant to production quickly and safely
Carrying out emergency and planned maintenance on all production equipment
Supporting preventative maintenance planning and shutdown activities
Welding and fabrication to a good standard
Diagnosing faults, carrying out root cause analysis and preventing repeat failures
Owning small improvement projects and seeing them through to completion
Coordinating contractors and managing on site works safely
Using the CMMS to record work, faults and spares used
Promoting and challenging standards around Health, Safety and Environment
About You
You’ll be a self motivated mechanical fitter with experience in an industrial or heavy plant environment, confident working with minimal supervision.
You’ll ideally have:
A recognised mechanical apprenticeship (higher level preferred)
ONC / HNC (desirable, not essential)
Strong hands on experience with heavy mechanical systems including:
Conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes
Crushers, screens and drive systems
Proven fault finding and breakdown repair capability
Experience removing and fitting bearings
A strong understanding of SHE risks and safe working practicesWhy Tarmac
