Days and hours of work: Monday – Friday, 09:00‑17:00. Starting and finishing times are flexible. To start ASAP.
Job Purpose
The Equity & Inclusion Education Outreach Service provides bespoke support to identified learners to improve their school attendance, engagement, attainment, and achievement. Education Outreach Officers work with learners on a short‑term basis and partner with families to promote positive home‑school links across East Lothian. The service follows GIRFEC principles and works with school colleagues, learners’ Named Education Contacts (NEC) and other agencies as part of the ‘team around the child’ to provide early and effective support, ensuring all learners meet their full potential. The service is led by a Deputy Head Teacher for Equity & Inclusion.
Job Details
In line with GIRFEC principles, Education Outreach Officers work closely with school colleagues, including learners’ Named Education Contacts (NEC) and other agencies as part of the ‘team around the child’ to provide early and effective support to ensure that all learners meet their full potential.

Job Requirements
* Relevant Qualifications: Educated to HNC or SVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline (education, social care, health, or community education) and able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
* Driving Licence: A full current driving licence is desirable.
* PVG Membership: This is a regulated role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults. All candidates for regulated work will be required to become a PVG Scheme member or undergo an update prior to any formal offer.
* Overseas Criminal Record Check: If you have spent more than three months working or living outside the UK in the last five years, you must present a copy of an overseas criminal record check.
