About Our Client
Our client is a values-led charitable organisation with deep roots in the local community, overseeing a wide network of operations that support both heritage and mission-led activities. With a team of around 50 staff, they deliver services across finance, property, governance, and safeguarding. Job Description
3. Lead the production of monthly management accounts and oversee budget holder reviews
4. Deliver timely and accurate statutory accounts and annual audit coordination
5. Own the financial planning process including the organisation's annual budget
6. Develop, monitor, and evaluate internal financial controls and procedures
7. Work with leadership to support financial strategy, change management and process improvement
8. Provide financial insight to operational leaders and guide key decision-making
9. Support parishes and external stakeholders with financial and reporting guidance
10. Deputise for the Director of Finance when required and lead the finance team (including two Finance Managers)
The Successful Applicant
The successful Financial Controller will have:
11. A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
12. Strong management accounting and budgeting experience
13. Hands-on experience producing year-end statutory accounts and managing audits
14. A solid understanding of charity accounting and the Charities SORP
15. Experience leading teams and working with ERP systems
16. High emotional intelligence and the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders
17. An understanding or willingness to engage with the mission and values of the organisation
