About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity to join a well-established, person-centred transport service as our dedicated PCV Driver - Adult Day Centre. As our Transport Driver, your core responsibility will be to collect clients safely from their homes each morning and return them home in the afternoon following their day at the centre. You will also take clients to the local shopping centre and other community locations as required. You will be the first and last face our clients see each day, so a warm, patient, and caring approach is just as important as safe driving.

About Our Service
We are a registered Care Provider delivering day service and respite support to adults with learning disabilities and accompanying complex needs. Our service is small but highly valued many of our clients have been with us for years and genuinely enjoy their time at the centre. We maintain excellent relationships with families and operate with consistency and warmth at the core of everything we do. You will be stepping into a settled, well-functioning service with a strong foundation already in place.
Key Responsibilities of our Driver - Adult Day Centre
* Collect clients from their homes and transport them safely to the centre, local shopping centre, and other locations as required
* Provide safe, smooth, and dignified transport for all clients on every journey
* Take full responsibility for the company vehicle when in your charge at all times
* Carry out weekly vehicle checks and maintain accurate records
* Ensure vehicles are booked in for servicing and MOT work as required
* Report any vehicle faults promptly and follow up to ensure they are resolved
* Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and presentable at all times
* Operate tail lifts, wheelchair clamps, and seatbelt restraints safely and correctly training will be provided
* Build good, professional relationships with clients and their families, acting as an ambassador for Abilities Development at all times
* Maintain confidentiality regarding all clients, their families, and carers
* Work flexibly across Monday to Saturday to meet the needs of the service
* Support health and safety procedures and follow all company policies at all times.

We are looking for a reliable, customer-focused PCV driver who understands that this role is about much more than getting from A to B. Our clients depend on consistent, trustworthy support and the person in this role becomes an important and valued part of their daily routine.
You will also bring:
* A full, clean UK driving licence with D1 Category this is mandatory
* A genuine concern for customer service and the experience of the people in your care
* Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and the confidence to carry out regular checks
* A genuinely caring and patient approach to working with vulnerable adults
* Punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of personal responsibility
* Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and families
* An understanding of health and safety as it applies to transport and passenger care
* Awareness of first aid principles and a willingness to respond calmly in an emergency

Previous experience working with people with disabilities is desirable but not essential a positive attitude and genuine care for others matters most. Full training will be provided including wheelchair restraint, moving and handling, and passenger safety.
