Electrical Working Supervisor
Location: Kent, Essex, Surrey or surrounding areas (commutable to Gravesend)
Work Pattern: Approximately 50% at working commercial sites across the southern home counties to include Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Kent, Essex, Surrey, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas, and 50% office-based in Gravesend
A well-established electrical contractor Client is seeking an experienced Electrical Working Supervisor to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrician with strong leadership abilities who enjoys a balance between hands-on electrical work and team supervision.
You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of commercial and industrial electrical projects, overseeing a team of electricians while also remaining actively involved in site work at commercial buildings and retail parks.
The Role
As an Electrical Working Supervisor, you will divide your time between hands-on electrical installation and maintenance work and the supervision of a team of 6 – 8 Electrical Engineers.
You will ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards while managing labour allocation, planning workloads, and maintaining strong communication with internal teams and clients.
The role involves travel to client sites across Kent, Essex, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas, along with time spent at the company’s Gravesend head office.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Duties
* Carry out high-standard commercial and industrial installation, maintenance, diagnostic, and remedial works
* Work on electrical installations, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and associated systems
* Ensure all work is completed in line with safe systems of work and RAMS
* Record works accurately using company IT systems
* Source materials from wholesalers and deliver installations from instruction through to completion
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671:2018 and subsequent amendments
* Liaise with Contracts and Operations teams to support efficient project delivery
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
* Supervise and coordinate a team of 6 – 8 Electrical Engineers
* Allocate labour effectively across planned and reactive works
* Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and on-the-job training
* Conduct quality inspections and ensure all work meets required standards
* Support performance management, including absence monitoring and appraisals
Work Planning & Scheduling
* Plan and schedule work to meet contractual KPIs and customer expectations
* Coordinate periodic testing programmes and project-related activities
* Allocate work based on skills, workload, and operational priorities
Materials & Resource Management
* Ensure materials are forecasted, ordered, and available to avoid project delays
* Manage tools, equipment, vehicles, and stock levels in line with safety standards
Safety & Compliance
* Ensure full compliance with BS 7671, electrical safety regulations, and company policies
* Review and prepare RAMS and safety documentation
* Maintain compliance with NICEIC (or equivalent) standards
* Ensure accurate records of inspections, testing, and completed works
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a hands-on, organised supervisor with strong technical knowledge and the ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers.
Essential:
* ECS Gold Card
* 18th Edition (BS7671:2018)
* City & Guilds 2391 (or 2394/2395 equivalent)
* Minimum 4 years’ commercial/industrial electrical installation experience
* Proven supervisory or electrician team leadership experience
* Full set of electrical tools
* Ability to present a portfolio of recent installations completed to a high standard
Desirable: IPAF licence, PASMA licence, EV Charging qualification
