Join us as a Senior Communications Officer
We’re pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Senior Communications Officer to join the parkrun team, based in our Richmond (London) office.
parkrun is a health and wellbeing charity and our vision is to create a healthier and happier planet.
Since our conception in 2004, parkrun has evolved into a global social movement with a vibrant and inclusive community at its core. As of 2025, we have recorded over 100-million instances of walking, jogging, running, and volunteering.
Our mission is to transform lives by empowering people to be active, together, outdoors in their local community; and to protect parkrun for the generations to come. Each and every weekend, we deliver free, weekly timed events that people of all ages and backgrounds can join in. By tackling barriers to participation, we encourage people from all walks of life to come together and embrace regular physical activity.
parkrun now takes place in over 2,600 locations in 23 countries with more than 10 million people registered, and counting.
And we have really only just begun.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Communications Officer to be a valued member of parkrun’s Communications Team.
The focus of parkrun’s Communications Team is to make sure that parkrun’s communications are ‘always on’, accessible, inclusive and reaching those that too often are under-represented. The team also provides first-class support and guidance to the entire charity, working closely with outreach, and with our commercial team, which covers fundraising, partnerships and retail.
Working closely with the junior parkrun Impact and Engagement Manager, the Senior Communications Officer will proactively lead and shape the marketing communications activity for junior parkrun. They will provide expert communications project management to plan, deliver and report on a variety of internal and external campaigns. The role has a particular focus on junior parkrun, with the aim of increasing participation amongst groups that are marginalised from opportunities to take part in social, physical activity, and who may be inactive/less active or in lower states of health.
We offer great flexible working conditions and a range of employee benefits including a contributory pension plan, 25 days paid leave (plus Bank Holidays) and a commitment to develop your skills and provide training.
parkrun is proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer, committed to building a diverse and welcoming team that reflects the communities we aim to serve. We believe that varied perspectives strengthen our mission to create a healthier, happier planet. We encourage job applications from qualified candidates regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, age and other protected characteristics.
At parkrun, we strive to make every voice heard and valued, and we are dedicated to breaking down barriers to inclusion in all aspects of our workplace. For more on our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, please see our Global DEI Statement. If you share our values and ambitions, and have the skills and experience, then we would be delighted to receive your application.
