We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our client on a chemicals plant in Hull. In this critical role, you will be responsible for inspecting and verifying the integrity, functionality, and compliance of both static and rotating mechanical equipment throughout the construction and installation phases.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough inspections of static equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, piping systems) to ensure adherence to engineering designs, industry standards, and project specifications.
2. Inspect rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines) for proper alignment, balance, lubrication, and overall functionality.
3. Review and analyze equipment documentation (drawings, manuals, certifications) to ensure accurate reflection of the installed components.
4. Coordinate and oversee Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities to identify potential defects in equipment and materials.
5. Monitor welding procedures and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
6. Perform material identification tests and maintain traceability of materials used in equipment fabrication and construction.
7. Identify and document any deviations from specifications or potential safety hazards.
8. Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, observations, recommendations, and corrective actions.
9. Communicate inspection results effectively to project management, engineers, and other stakeholders.
10. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications:
11. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical inspection, preferably within the chemicals or petrochemicals industry.
12. Proven understanding of relevant industry standards and codes (ASME, API, etc.).
13. Strong knowledge of static and rotating mechanical equipment operation and maintenance principles.
14. Experience with NDT methods and interpretation of results is a plus.
15. Excellent communication, written and verbal, with the ability to prepare clear and concise inspection reports.
16. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
17. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
18. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to the project site as required.
