Purpose of the job
Reporting to the Head of Pricing & Underwriting - Multi-Lines, part of a small team responsible for managing the underwriting performance of the Multi-Lines insurance portfolio within Collinson’s Insurance business.
Deliver regular performance analysis and policy wording reviews for our key accounts across Multi-Lines which includes Home Emergency, Motor Breakdown, Gadget, Excess Protection and Warranty products. Provide renewal rate analysis to support the profitable growth of the portfolio in accordance with the Company's strategy and reinsurance agreements. Work proactively with all stakeholders including business development, account managers, finance, clients, intermediaries and insurers.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake monthly performance reviews of schemes
* Support Underwriters and Head of Pricing and Underwriting in scheme reviews and new scheme quotes
* Assist in regular reviews of scheme documentation (including policy wordings and renewal documents) to improve clarity, ensure continued compliance and manage risk effectively and work with compliance to compile policy wordings, endorsements, addendums as may be required to reflect the cover to be provided by the policy in line with the pricing interpretation and expectation
* Build effective relationships with the Commercial Account Management team to assist with existing client relationships and prospects
* Monitor, identify and implement pricing and risk controls, supporting operational processes, developing and executing new ideas to ensure the business reacts appropriately to performance triggers; identifying, documenting, tracking and mitigating risks as they arise.
* Operate within the agreed underwriting authority limits set by the Company and in accordance with the underwriting managing agent agreements with external insurers
* Support the underwriting and pricing relationship for the line of business with Collinson capacity partners
* Check quality of data provided by clients and third-party claims administrators.
* Support other Collinson Insurance lines of business in a peer review capacity
Knowledge, skills and experience required
* Ideally an insurance background in the Motor and Home ancillary products or the Gadget and Warranty markets
* Strong numerical background
* A sound understanding of the terminology and calculations used in determining and controlling insurance risks
* Previous experience in dealing with business regulated by the FCA
* Previous Underwriting/ Pricing experience would be advantageous
* CII qualified or studying for CII qualifications would be advantageous
* Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office with excellent Word and Excel capabilities
* Exposure to Power BI, Emblem and Alteryx or similar tools advantageous
