Our client, a leading engineering company based in Cannock has an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join their Team. The Role:
* Be in control of the full purchasing and procurement process from initial supplier identification and validation, contract negotiations, quotations and scheduling, through to metrics and quality performance measurement
* Use the business’s ERP software to understand Bill of Material demand requirements, and procure materials in order to satisfy these demands, whilst maintaining stock holding targets
* Conduct research and utilise industry knowledge to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
* Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
* Based at the Cannock site, but travel to Northamptonshire and Rutland sites is required
* Develop the purchasing strategy, including internal processes
* Assist in the development of the business’s strategic suppliers
* Attend meetings and support the business’s New Product Introduction process
* Manage the work of other members of staff – principally the responsibility for Raw Material Stores and the Goods‑In Process
* Ensure suppliers are aware of the business’s objectives
* Negotiate and agree on contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided
* Keep contract files and use them as a reference for the future
* Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities
Our Ideal Candidate:
* Experience of a similar role within the automotive or similar industry (Tier1, Tier2 or OEM)
* In-depth understanding of automotive processes and procedures
* To be able to work in an organisation undergoing growth and change
* A positive “can-do” attitude, with a willingness for flexibility and the ability to adapt to different client needs and to develop and maintain successful working relationships
* The ability to make important decisions and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines
* Commercial awareness, with an excellent standard of numeracy in order to analyse data
* Good oral and written communication skills
* A flair for negotiation and networking
