About The Role
As a Web Developer, you’ll become an integral part of our agile development team, working with the latest technology on ground-breaking projects to keep the business at the forefront of our industry.
You’ll work on the development and maintenance of our public websites, used to both promote the business, and to give our customers the ability to self-serve and manage their orders.
The technology you will be using includes:

Main responsibilities:
11. Build and maintain Wren’s custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 6+ based)
12. Develop responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using Tailwind CSS and Symfony UX
13. Integrate with RESTful APIs and external data sources
14. Optimise site performance for SEO and user experience
15. Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others
16. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
17. Work with senior developers, business stakeholders and wider development team to understand the initial scope for a new project

About You
Essential
27. A genuine passion (and a keen eye!) for website design and usability
28. Frontend development experience with LESS/SASS or Tailwind CSS, HTML5 and modern TypeScript / JavaScript
29. Understanding of UX principles and best practices
30. Knowledge of technical SEO and performance optimisation techniques
31. Experience of using Version Control systems such as Git as part of a team
32. Familiar with Linux or Mac OS
33. At least 2 years’ experience in creating and maintaining object oriented PHP7 or PHP8 based systems
34. An understanding of the MVC approach to development
35. Experience of working with MySQL (We use v8 currently)
36. Experience of using version control systems (such as Git) as part of a team
37. A passion for adhering to coding standards and clean code
Desirable
38. Experience with Redis, OpenSearch/ElasticSearch
39. Strong Symfony (or similar) knowledge, including Doctrine ORM & Symfony UX
40. JavaScript skills (object composition, scope)
41. RESTful API design & automated testing (e.g. Playwright, PHPUnit)
42. Familiar with Docker, Webpack, NPM, ESLint, Stylelint
43. Understanding of Agile & CI/CD practices
44. Knowledge of design patterns & practical application
45. Comfortable with Linux/Mac OS
46. Retail experience or understanding of retail processes
