About The Role
As a Web Developer, you’ll become an integral part of our agile development team, working with the latest technology on ground-breaking projects to keep the business at the forefront of our industry.
You’ll work on the development and maintenance of our public websites, used to both promote the business, and to give our customers the ability to self-serve and manage their orders.
This is a Hybrid role based at Barton-upon-Humber, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. What Wren offer:

Main Responsibilities:
9. Build and maintain Wren’s custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 6+ based)
10. Develop responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using Tailwind CSS and Symfony UX
11. Integrate with RESTful APIs and external data sources
12. Optimise site performance for SEO and user experience
13. Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others
14. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
15. Work with senior developers, business stakeholders and wider development team to understand the initial scope for a new project
About You
Desired Skills and Knowledge:
16. Strong frontend development skills with HTML5, modern JavaScript/TypeScript, and CSS (LESS/SASS or Tailwind), with a solid understanding of UX and usability
17. Backend experience with object-oriented PHP 7/8, MVC architecture, Symfony (or similar), Doctrine ORM, and MySQL
18. Knowledge of performance optimisation, technical SEO, and building responsive, accessible websites
19. Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, with automated testing (e.g. PHPUnit, Playwright)
20. Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows
21. Familiarity with modern tooling and environments including Docker, Webpack, NPM, and Linux/macOS
22. Understanding of clean code principles, design patterns, and Agile/CI/CD practices
23. Bonus exposure to Redis, OpenSearch/ElasticSearch, and retail systems
