About The Role
As a Web Developer, you’ll become an integral part of our agile development team, working with the latest technology on ground-breaking projects to keep the business at the forefront of our industry.
You’ll work on the development and maintenance of our public websites, used to both promote the business, and to give our customers the ability to self-serve and manage their orders.

Key Responsibilities:
19. Build and maintain Wren’s custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 6+ based)
20. Develop responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using Tailwind CSS and Symfony UX
21. Integrate with RESTful APIs and external data sources
22. Optimise site performance for SEO and user experience
23. Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others
24. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
25. Work with senior developers, business stakeholders and wider development team to understand the initial scope for a new project
About You
Essential
26. A genuine passion (and a keen eye!) for website design and usability
27. Frontend development experience with LESS/SASS or Tailwind CSS, HTML5 and modern TypeScript / JavaScript
28. Understanding of UX principles and best practices
29. Knowledge of technical SEO and performance optimisation techniques
30. Experience of using Version Control systems such as Git as part of a team
31. Familiar with Linux or Mac OS
32. At least 2 years’ experience in creating and maintaining object oriented PHP7 or PHP8 based systems
33. An understanding of the MVC approach to development
34. Experience of working with MySQL (We use v8 currently)
35. Experience of using version control systems (such as Git) as part of a team
36. A passion for adhering to coding standards and clean code
Desirable
37. Experience with Redis and OpenSearch / ElasticSearch
38. Knowledge of Symfony UX or similar
39. Understanding of JavaScript programming concepts including object composition and scope.
40. Experience using utilities and build tools including Docker, Webpack, NPM, ESLint and Stylelint.
41. Experience of Agile project methodologies and its impact on iterative design
42. Experience of working in a continuous integration environment
43. A working knowledge of the Symfony (or equivalent) framework
44. A working knowledge of the Doctrine ORM
45. Experience in creating and maintaining RESTFul APIs.
46. Experience of automated testing (e.g. Playwright, PHPUnit)
47. Knowledge of design patterns, with practical experience of implementing them
48. Experience of agile project methodologies (and its impact on iterative design)
49. Experience of working in a continuous integration environment
50. Familiar with Linux or Mac OS
51. Has previously worked for a retailer / understands retail process
