Summary
This is a rewarding opportunity to join a nurturing mainstream primary school, supporting pupils with additional needs across Key Stages 1 and 2. Working as part of a caring and collaborative team, you'll play a vital role in helping children grow in confidence, communication, and independence.
The Role
You will work alongside class teachers and the SEN team to support pupils with a range of needs, including speech and language difficulties, autism, and global developmental delay. Day-to-day, your role may involve:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support
* Supporting learning through visual aids, prompts, and differentiated tasks
* Helping pupils develop friendships and navigate social situations
* Encouraging emotional regulation and resilience
* Assisting during transitions, playtimes, and classroom routines
Your support will make a lasting impact on children's progress, confidence, and sense of belonging.
The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed
This role is perfect for someone with warmth, patience, and a genuine interest in inclusive education. Experience working with children with SEND is highly valued, but we also welcome those from care, health, or social service backgrounds looking to transition into education. A relevant Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification in care or health is beneficial. An understanding of EHCPs or experience with children needing additional support would be an advantage.

Hours
8.30 am–3.30 pm, Monday to Friday, term-time only. Part-time applicants are welcome, with flexibility around working days.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available
