Site Engineer
Barhale is a family‑owned civil engineering specialist with over 40 years of experience. This role provides site engineering duties for projects across water, transport, energy and the built environment.
The Role
Provide site engineering duties, establish level and survey control, set out detailed works per contract drawings, ensure regular checks, maintain accurate records, resolve technical difficulties, liaise with procurement, produce ITPs, task briefings, look‑ahead and diaries.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote Barhale Cardinal Rules, establish safe working culture and comply with legal obligations.
* Deliver works safely, promote best practice, comply with company procedures, deliver defect‑free work, spot value engineering opportunities.
* Set level and survey control, set out detailed works, ensure records accurate, resolve unexpected technical difficulties, produce procurement schedules, produce ITPs, task briefings, 2‑week look‑ahead, site diaries and allocation sheets.
* Accurate and timely setting out, timely handover of works, produce accurate records, drawing registers and weekly diaries.
* Develop good working relationships with site workforce and customer technical representative.
About You
Essential
* Previous experience of setting out on civil engineering projects.
* Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations.
* Fully conversant with robotic total station or EDM instruments.
* Degree qualified/HNC (or equivalent) in civil engineering.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Self‑driven, results‑oriented with a positive outlook.
Desirable
* Experience in using AutoCAD and MS Office.
* Temporary‑works coordination.
* CSCS card.
* Cable avoidance training.
* First aid training.
* NEBOSH or IOSH.
