The Role
As a Lead Finance Business Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting one of our most dynamic engineering portfolios. This is an exciting opportunity to shape financial strategy within Mission Systems, partnering closely with senior stakeholders and leading a small high‑performing team. Your insight will directly influence programmes that support defence, aerospace and national security - making every decision you support part of something bigger.
This role will allow you to grow your leadership impact, broaden your financial expertise, and work at the heart of engineering projects that help build a safer world.
Day-to-day, you’ll be:
1. Producing accurate financial information to support forecasting, budgeting and contract performance.
2. Leading and developing a small finance team, supporting their growth and capability.
3. Providing high‑quality financial insight that empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions.
4. Partnering with project managers to help them understand financial drivers, risks and opportunities.
5. Working across Mission Systems to ensure accountability and clarity in financial planning and performance.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Lead Finance Business Partner
6. Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across finance and non‑finance teams.
7. A proactive, self‑starting approach, with the drive to make a positive impact.
8. Ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
9. Skilled in managing workload, priorities and stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
10. Strong analytical capability with excellent Excel skills.
Qualifications for the Lead Finance Business Partner
Essential:
11. A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, ACMA, ICAS, ICAEW), or equivalent significant applicable experience.
Desirable:
12. Experience mentoring or supporting junior finance colleagues.
13. Exposure to business partnering in a complex engineering, defence or technology environment.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
