This is an opportunity for someone who wants long‑term ownership, real accountability and work that genuinely makes a difference. Reporting into a senior service manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering multiple live construction schemes within a high‑profile capital programme, primarily across the education estate.
You’ll take control of projects at build stage, acting as the client‑side lead and the single point of contact for consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders. With external teams delivering much of the technical detail, your focus will be on programme, cost, risk and stakeholder management – ensuring schemes are delivered on time, within budget and with minimal disruption.
This role suits someone who understands how public sector projects really work. You’ll be trusted to manage competing priorities, handle political and stakeholder challenges, and keep momentum moving in an environment where no two days look the same. There is a strong pipeline of work, a supportive team culture and enough autonomy to make this role both challenging and rewarding.
Your role as Construction Project Manager:
* Client‑side ownership of live construction projectswithin a capital programme
* Management of external consultants and contractorsthrough the delivery phase
* Strong focus on cost control, reporting and programme governance
* Acting as the single point of contactfor stakeholders and site teams
* Balancing site presence and flexible home workingto keep projects moving
Your previous experience as a Construction Project Manager:
* Proven delivery of public sector or local authority construction projects
* Strong exposure to education or school‑based schemes
* Confident managing contractors from a client‑side perspective
* Excellent commercial awareness and Excel‑based cost controlskills
* Comfortable working in stakeholder‑heavy and politically sensitive environments
