Wigton Group Medical Practice are seeking an enthusiasticand energetic individual to fulfil a role with our expanding busy patientservices team. An exciting opportunity for a primary care medical receptionist,with training and development offered in NHS care navigation.
The post will be for 20 hours a week. You will work to a rota between the hours of 7.45am and 6.30pm.
Main duties of the job
This role involves daily face to face and telephone contact with patients, arranging of appointments and follow up of patient related tasks. The practice aims to develop the role by offering further training to the right candidate to fulfil a role in supporting and navigating patients to the most appropriate care for their needs.
About us
We are a busy practice with a commitment to training and developing both the clinical and non-clinical team. We are based in Cumbria and offer care to over 9000 patients. We operate the EMIS clinical system. This position would especially suit an applicant with previous experience in a care setting with an interest in maintaining excellent patient relationships. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, compassion and computer literacy skills are essential.
Job responsibilities
To support the practice clinical teamby signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service,working as part of the practices multidisciplinary team.
The care navigatorwill also be expected to undertake reception duties as part of the role,supporting the administrative team in delivering a polite and professionalservice to the patient population.
The following are the coreresponsibilities of the care navigator.
There may be, on occasion, arequirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent on factors such asworkload and staffing levels.
a.Process andeffectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional,depending on the presenting condition
b.Answer incomingphone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestsappropriately
c.Process patientrequests for appointments
d.Direct requests forrepeat prescription or medication queries to the correct team
e.Initiate contactwith and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
f.Enter SNOMED CTcode data on EMIS
g.Photocopy / scandocumentation as required
h.Data entry of newand temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
i.Input data into thepatients healthcare records as necessary
j.Direct requests forinformation, e.g., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms, to theadministrative team
k.Manage all queriesas necessary in an efficient manner
l.Carry out systemsearches as requested
m.Maintain a clean,tidy, effective working area at all times
n.Monitor andmaintain the reception area and noticeboards
o.Support allclinical staff with general tasks as requested

* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
* Active signposting or Care Navigator training qualification
