Hybrid role: this role is based in our Cardiff office once‑to‑twice a week.
Key Responsibilities
* Owns the day‑to‑day running and continuous improvement of customer‑facing platforms and integrations, driving operational excellence, efficiency, and effective, scalable solutions across Salesforce and connected systems.
* Manages third‑party system integrations and partner expectations while working closely with internal service teams to ensure aligned delivery, clear ownership, and reliable operational outcomes.
* Leads and develops high‑performing teams, building strong relationships with stakeholders across Customer Services, Claims, Ops, and leadership to deliver outcomes through others.
* Technically confident across multiple engineering disciplines and platforms, able to context‑switch between back‑end systems, Salesforce, front‑end, integrations, and configuration, providing direction and challenge without being hands‑on day‑to‑day coding.
* Operates effectively in evolving, ambiguous environments, balancing changing priorities, emerging requirements, and partner dependencies while maintaining delivery momentum.
* Owns outcomes end‑to‑end, taking responsibility for delivery, decisions, and impact rather than defaulting to process or governance for cover.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Previous people‑management experience within a technical environment, including supporting, developing and coaching engineers while driving high‑quality delivery.
* Strong experience working within a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure or GCP), with knowledge of cloud‑native architecture, deployments and modern engineering practices.
* Proven experience leading architectural decision‑making, providing technical direction and ensuring systems are scalable, secure and maintainable.
Desirable Skills
* Extensive hands‑on software engineering experience, demonstrating strong proficiency across modern development practices, tooling, and coding standards, with the ability to dive into technical detail when required.
* Experience building end‑to‑end web/mobile based solutions, including designing and developing APIs, integrating with external systems, and managing server–client interactions to deliver robust, scalable products.
* Significant backend development experience, ideally using Python and Django, with a strong understanding of service architecture, performance optimisation, and reliable system design.
* Proven experience in recruiting, developing, and supporting technical teams, creating an environment where engineers can perform at their best and grow their capability over time.
* BA/BS in Computer Science (or equivalent proven experience) demonstrating strong foundational knowledge in engineering principles, system design and software architecture.
