Job Advert: Level 2 Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (Southport) Full-Time Position An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic Alternative Provision setting based in Southport. This is a full-time role supporting young learners in a unique and engaging educational environment. The provision offers a broad and inclusive curriculum, with dedicated classrooms for vocational subjects including a large workshop and a professional-standard salon. In addition to vocational learning, students benefit from fully equipped classrooms for core subjects such as English and Maths, featuring modern whiteboard technology to enhance teaching and learning. Each day, learners have access to freshly prepared meals served from a popular mobile food van, supporting a positive and relaxed lunchtime environment. The setting prides itself on excellent outcomes, with 98% of students achieving qualifications last year and 80% successfully progressing to Further Education. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting young people who may face barriers to learning. They will be confident in managing behaviour calmly and effectively, and skilled at building trustworthy, supportive relationships with students to help them engage, progress, and thrive. Key Responsibilities: Supporting teaching staff in delivering high-quality learning across both vocational and academic subjects. Assisting with the supervision and care of students throughout the school day. Helping to create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Managing behaviour in line with the provision’s policies and fostering strong, respectful relationships with learners. Encouraging student participation, confidence, and personal development. Requirements: Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Experience supporting young people with behavioural challenges is desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A calm, patient, and resilient approach to working with young people.
