Mitie is looking for a dedicated, passionate, and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our versatile Minor New Works team. The role involves undertaking all electrical works within the designated area safely and efficiently, including repairs where appropriate. You will ensure that all planned maintenance is completed on schedule and adhere to Health & Safety policies.
As part of a skilled and collaborative team, which includes Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, Administrators, and other professionals, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and well-managed environment.
We are seeking someone with a strong background in electrical engineering who is capable of carrying out electrical safety checks, PAT testing, planned maintenance, reactive callouts, and repairs across a diverse client base.
Main Duties
1. Ensure all equipment and services are maintained and operated safely, in compliance with Health & Safety regulations and SFG20 standards.
2. Monitor and carry out regular inspections as part of the preventative maintenance programme.
3. Record and maintain logs of inspection reports and remedial actions taken.
4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory regulations and ensure adherence to all safety procedures.
5. Perform electrical repairs and installations as required; report any defects during service visits.
6. Liaise with clients on-site and deliver excellent customer service at all times.
7. Assist other team members with tasks when required.
8. Complete and submit job reports within one hour of task completion.
9. Collect parts/goods from suppliers when authorised by the Line Manager.
10. Execute all electrical maintenance and installation work safely and efficiently.
11. Ensure all planned maintenance tasks are completed on schedule.
What we are looking for
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
12. Qualified to Level 2/3 City & Guilds and/or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation.
13. Proven experience in electrical installation and maintenance, particularly in the services or facilities management sector.
14. Ability to undertake all aspects of electrical maintenance and installation within the scope of the contract.
15. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills; able to proactively identify and resolve issues.
16. Competent in accurately recording work using worksheets and digital systems.
17. Must hold a valid full UK driving licence. (Listed only once for clarity.)
18. Familiarity with a wide range of electrical systems and installations.
19. Self-sufficient in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems.
20. Knowledge of and compliance with information security protocols (e.g., Mitie standards).
21. Eligibility and ability to obtain and maintain MOD security clearance and DBS clearance. (Must have resided in the UK for at least 3 years.)
22. Proof of right to work in the UK is essential.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
23. City & Guilds – Inspection & Testing (training available if not currently held).
24. 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS).
25. Authorised Person qualification (current or previously held).
26. IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
27. Previous experience working in MOD environments.
