An opportunity has come up for a 9-12 month GP Maternity Locum position at Craigmillar Medical Group. Ideally 6 sessions over Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays. Start date is flexible but ideally 1st April 2026.
Craigmillar Medical Group is a large teaching and training practice with a growing practice list size. We operate from a purpose-made building, currently have around 12,000 patients registered with us and are fortunate to have a large and committed multidisciplinary team. This comprises a GP Team of 7 partners, 5 Salaried GPs, 1 Retainer GP and 2 GPSTs. We also have a nursing team, a mental health team practice pharmacists and a community link worker. There are also several visiting specialists to our practice serving the locality, such as Thrive, CAMHS and sexual health. Our district nursing, health visiting and midwifery colleagues are all based with us in the building. Our reception team were retrained as 'care coordinators' a number of years ago and have a key role in supporting patients to link patients in with the right person in the team.
We use Vision and Docman clinical systems.
This is an opportunity to get experience of working at the 'Deep End' of General Practice in an area of significant socio-economic deprivation in Edinburgh. We believe we make a real difference to people's lives through holistic care approaches and feel the reward of advocating for patients and communities that often struggle to find a voice.
