The Role

Looking to start your career in business administration while gaining valuable experience and qualifications?

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our Finance Operations Team as a Business Administration Apprentice. In this role, you’ll support the team with a variety of administrative and operational tasks and work towards a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

Over 2 years, you’ll mix hands-on experience within our dedicated Operations team with high-quality training from our internal apprenticeship provider. In the role you will be supporting the Finance team by providing a high-quality service to colleagues through day-to-day administrative support to help the team run smoothly. You will develop transferable skills, gain real workplace experience and build the foundations for a successful career.

By the end, you’ll have the skills, confidence and professional qualification to become a high-performing business administrator – all while building your career and your bank balance.

The closing date for this role will be Sunday 12th April and the assessment day will take place on Friday 24th April.

Key Accountabilities

4. Undertake and successfully complete the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship including attending off-the-job training, completing coursework and maintaining evidence required for assessment
5. Take an active role in personal development, seeking feedback and opportunities to build knowledge of university operations and finance processes
6. Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting the team in identifying opportunities for more efficient and effective ways of working
7. Build effective working relationships with colleagues across the Finance Team and wider University, ensuring a professional, responsive and customer-focused service to internal and external stakeholders
8. Accurately update records using Microsoft Office and other internal systems
9. Produce documents including emails, letters, files, reports and proposals
10. Contribute to team tasks and meetings, helping to achieve team deadlines, taking into consideration fluctuating demands and priorities
11. Manage shared inboxes and queries, responding to customer and stakeholder enquiries in a positive and professional manner, or referring onwards as appropriate
12. Maintain a clean and organised office space, for instance assist with incoming and outgoing mail, parcels, and deliveries and order and monitor office supplies

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

13. Excellent IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
14. Comfortable learning and using new digital systems and internal software packages
15. Excellent attention to detail
16. Organised and proactive in order to meet deadlines
17. Able to work well independently, managing own workload with appropriate guidance, and as part of a team
18. Excellent interpersonal skills and a good communicator, both written and verbal
19. Demonstrates professionalism and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately

Qualifications

26. 5 GCSEs at Grade C or Level 4 and above, including Maths and English.
