Green Spaces Operative - The Role
We're looking for a motivated and flexible individual to join our Green Spaces team. This is a great opportunity to help maintain and improve our borough's parks, open spaces, and floral displays.
Working as part of a small, friendly team, you'll carry out a range of tasks including grass cutting, hedge trimming, gardening, and other grounds maintenance work. You'll take pride in delivering high standards and helping to keep Rushcliffe looking its best.
This role is varied, hands-on, and ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and being part of a team that makes a real difference in the community.
Green Spaces Operative - Key Responsibilities
* Carry out day-to-day grounds maintenance work including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding, and planting
* Maintain tools and equipment to a high standard
* Work to set schedules and respond to seasonal tasks (e.g. planting, mowing, leaf clearing)
* Support with maintenance of sports pitches and floral displays
* Report any issues or repairs needed in public spaces
* Drive work vehicles to and from sites (full driving licence required)
* Be flexible and willing to learn new skills as the role evolves
Green Spaces Operative - About You
We're looking for someone with a positive attitude and a willingness to get stuck in. You'll be reliable, take pride in your work, and enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions. You should have:
* Grounds maintenance experience (e.g. mowing, strimming, hedge cutting)
* Basic knowledge of Health & Safety in a manual working environment
* Experience using ride-on mowers and handheld machinery
* The ability to follow work schedules
* A full UK driving licence
* Willingness to work occasional weekends, early mornings, or bank holidays
It's a Bonus If You Also Have
* Sports pitch marking or maintenance experience
* PA1/PA6 pesticide application certificates
* Basic engineering or joinery skills
* Tractor driving experience
* An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one)
