Overview of Project/role
The post holder is accountable for leading the successful development and delivery of data and analytics solutions and applications which support operational and business decision making. They will direct a technically highly skilled team within the Analytics Development and Delivery team.
Key areas include:
* Providing data & analytics insights to inform customer and business decisions.
* Owning Business Intelligence/Data Science, data and analysis platforms, and delivering production services.
* Scaling successful prototyped concepts into supported data products.
* Defining and publishing a data governance framework, architecture, development standards and enforcing compliance across all business units.
* Effectuating lower total cost of ownership for data and analytics services.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead delivery of business intelligence solutions operational for 2–5 years.
* Manage development streams, deliver complex projects, ensure adequate resourcing and raise critical technical issues to leadership.
* Maintain and improve existing solutions, align them with the Technology and Data strategy.
* Lead design solutions, resolve complex issues, ensure risk mitigation and compliance with privacy, data protection and governance policies.
* Advocate continuous advancement in data and analytics tooling and technology based on industry trends.
* Document technical design of data warehousing and business intelligence components as per standards.
* Provide technical expertise for fixes and ensure testing environments are secure.
* Lead quality assurance design walk‑throughs with senior management and collaborate on tailored solutions.
Knowledge
* Expertise in ETL, data warehousing, data modelling, big data approaches.
* Deep knowledge of data schema structures and design.
* Proficiency with Agile development techniques and team structure.
* Knowledge of data encryption techniques and standards.
* Understanding of national and international legislation: Data Protection Act, EU Procurement Directives, Freedom of Information Act.
* Broad knowledge of planning and project management tools.

* Expertise in data and analytics solution design and implementation using Agile.
* Expertise in tooling and technology supporting the full development lifecycle.
* Exceptional problem‑solving, design and architectural skills.
* Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
* Effective collaboration with project delivery teams.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex information to senior management.
* Ability to analyse complex systems, spot trends, draw conclusions, and produce solutions.
Experience
* Design and development of complex data and analytics solutions in iterative manner for large enterprise implementations.
* Delivery of data and analytics solutions to automate business processes, meeting performance, availability, scalability, security and integrity requirements.
* Knowledge of ETL coding standards and reliable testing.
* Extensive experience managing business intelligence development teams delivering complex projects.
* Broad experience managing risks and mitigations related to BI development.
