Overview
Maintenance Operative - Mechanical role at Cyber Security Academy Southampton (University of Southampton). You will work within a skilled team in our on-site workshop, carrying out mechanical maintenance and repairs including milling, turning, and welding. The role supports planned and reactive maintenance across a broad estate and a range of mechanical plant and systems.

We are a research university with diverse properties, including labs, clean rooms, facilities, accommodation, and offices. You will help ensure high-quality delivery of maintenance to keep the estate operational.
Responsibilities
* Plan and manage a mix of planned and reactive maintenance for mechanical systems across the university estate.
* Operate within a team environment to deliver work on time and to a high standard.
* Contribute to on-site repairs and maintenance including workshop activities (e.g., milling, turning, welding).
* Adhere to Health & Safety regulations, risk assessments, and method statements in all maintenance activities.
Qualifications
* City and Guilds qualification and/or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and have completed a Mechanical apprenticeship or similar training programme.
* Experience of maintenance in a commercial or similar environment.
* Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation and ability to apply risk assessments and method statements to maintenance tasks.
* Full driving license and willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
